Australian hire costs

EOR Australia pricing: fees and on-costs

Two numbers drive most of the monthly bill for an Australian employee: the 12% superannuation guarantee for 2026-27 (ATO), paid on top of salary with state payroll tax and workers’ compensation, and our fee from USD 560 per head each month (about AUD 797, ECB, 24 Sep 2026). Set-up is usually billed once on top.

Cost questions

Questions on Australian costs

Is a senior hire dearer?+
Only through the on-costs. Our fee does not move with the salary, so a hire on AUD 60,000 and one on AUD 180,000 carry the same fee. Converted at the ECB rates of 24 Sep 2026, the fee is close to AUD 797. Salary, super and state on-costs are passed through at cost as separate lines on the same invoice.
What does 12% super add to a salary?+
For 2026-27 the superannuation guarantee is 12% of qualifying earnings (ATO), paid on top of salary until earnings reach the AUD 270,830 annual base. On an AUD 110,000 salary that is AUD 13,200 a year. Under Payday Super, which started on 1 July 2026, each contribution is due in the fund 7 business days after payday.
Why does the example include NSW payroll tax?+
Payroll tax is a state tax. NSW charges 5.45% on taxable wages, super included, above AUD 1.2 million a year (Revenue NSW, 2026-27). Our Sydney example assumes the employer’s grouped wages already pass that threshold, so tax applies from the first dollar: AUD 6,714.40 on AUD 123,200. With an illustrative 0.30% workers’ comp rate, employer cost is AUD 130,284.
What notice applies at exit?+
Under the NES, employer notice grows with continuous service: 1 week for a year or less, 2 weeks to 3 years, 3 weeks to 5 years, then 4 weeks. Add 1 week where the employee is older than 45 and has 2 or more years’ service. Pay in lieu of notice is allowed, and you fund it at the amount paid.
How is redundancy pay worked out?+
Redundancy pay under the NES starts at 4 weeks after 1 year’s service, rises to 16 weeks at 9 to 10 years, then falls to 12 weeks from 10 years. It is passed through without a margin. For 2026-27 a genuine redundancy payment is tax-free up to AUD 13,598 plus AUD 6,801 per completed year (ATO).
What does ending an employment cost you?+
Offboarding sits inside the monthly fee. We run the final pay, withhold PAYG on any termination payments, send super on the qualifying earnings in that pay within the Payday Super deadline, and lodge the final STP report. Notice pay, redundancy pay and any leave paid out are charged at cost. If a dismissal leads to an unfair dismissal claim, compensation is capped at AUD 95,050 for dismissals from 1 July 2026.
